Turning content into income with Subs

Subs is a comprehensive mobile-first creator platform that integrates content sharing, video calling, subscription management, and direct creator-subscriber interactions. Designed to serve diverse content creators—including podcasters, athletes, musicians, influencers, and adult creators—the platform aims to provide an all-in-one solution based on extensive creator research and feedback.

My role

I served as a product designer collaborating closely with other designers and developers on core features and comprehensive design support. My responsibilities included designing presentation materials, creating and animating social media posts (with copywriting), designing custom icons, mapping user flows, refining various platform features, and developing animated prototypes to demonstrate various functionalities.

Features

I contributed to designing the "Shows" feature, which enables creators to host long-form content such as videos, podcasts, and series with enhanced discoverability tools. I have also designed the one-to-one audio and video call functionality that facilitates direct communication between creators and their subscribers.

Business Goal

Creating a comprehensive, all-in-one creator platform that captures market share across diverse creator segments by offering integrated monetization, content hosting, and audience interaction tools that reduce platform dependency and maximize creator retention.

Empowering creators with a unified platform that simplifies content management, audience building, and monetization while providing subscribers with enhanced discovery features and direct creator access through personalized interactions and diverse content formats.

Design process

I focused on creating a series of user flows tailored to the needs of creators, fans and admins. This involved researching competitive platforms to gain insights and rethinking user needs to ensure our design effectively addresses their specific requirements and enhances their overall experience.

01/ Feature Shows

In designing the wireframes and flows, I focused on creating a seamless user experience for adding long-form video posts and managing show requests. I mapped out how the interface would display pending and rejected shows, ensuring clarity in user interactions. I incorporated functional features for video, such as a preview layout that includes the title, description, and commenting options. I also designed the process for sharing videos and withdrawing show requests to be intuitive and straightforward. To enhance discoverability, I included a feed similar to YouTube for showcasing videos, podcasts, and series, making it easy for users to find content.

02/ Video calling feature

In designing the wireframes and flows for the video calling feature, I aimed to create a user-friendly experience for tipping, topping up finances, and sharing earnings. Some of the focus areas included the tipping interface that would show up during calls, making it easy for users to select amounts with preset options and a custom input. The top-up process was designed to be straightforward, guiding users through choosing their payment method right from the video call screen. I also designed a stylish earnings sharing interface with a clear earnings dashboard that has a set of customizable templates showing total income, including tips and shared earnings. To help creators monetize effectively, I included features for tracking call duration and options for subscription models, ensuring they can manage their income while providing a great experience for their audience.

03/ Development and implementation

I actively collaborated with the development team and conducted quality checks to ensure our designs met high standards. The platform prioritizes content quality and safety through AI-powered moderation systems and strict identity verification processes, creating a secure environment for both creators and users.

04/ Expanding branding materials

In expanding the branding materials, I worked on designing banners that clearly reflect the brand's identity. I played around with different shapes and fonts to create eye-catching designs that connect with the target audience. By trying out various color combinations and layouts, I aimed to keep everything consistent while also allowing for some creativity. This approach helped enhance the overall look and feel of the brand, making it more memorable and engaging for users.

05/ Social media campaigns

I designed and animated targeted social media campaigns that focused on video content, wrote copy that resonated with specific audience segments while incorporating emojis and symbols to enhance communication effectiveness. The campaigns utilized bright, vibrant colors aligned with Subs' brand identity and platform aesthetic, creating engaging visual content that captured the dynamic, creator-focused vibe of the platform.
